John Venne has been helping individuals and families build, preserve, and transfer wealth with clarity and confidence since 2005. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Chartered Financial Consultant®, John brings a depth of technical expertise and a client-first approach that has defined his practice from the start.
John works with a select group of individuals and families — typically those with $1 million to $10 million in investable assets — who want more than investment management. They want a qualified, experienced professional who understands the full picture: retirement income planning, tax strategy, estate planning, risk management, and everything in between. His approach is comprehensive, goals-based, and always built around what matters most to each client and their family.
Before co-founding Ballast Financial, John developed his craft working with families navigating some of the most complex financial decisions of their lives. That experience shaped his belief that great financial planning isn't about products — it's about understanding someone's story well enough to build a plan that actually works for them.
John graduated from the University of Delaware with a dual concentration in Finance and Economics. He holds both the CFP® and ChFC® designations, among the most respected credentials in the financial planning profession.
Outside the office, John is an avid golfer and a longtime member of Laurel Creek Country Club, where he served nine years on the Board of Trustees — including three years as Treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee — and currently remains active on the Finance Committee. He previously served on the Board of Directors at Torresdale Frankford Country Club, where he was a member of both the Finance and Strategic Planning Committees — the latter playing an instrumental role in the club's merger with The Union League of Philadelphia, of which he is now a proud member. John lives in Moorestown, NJ with his wife Laura and their two sons, Jack and Chase.
